A1 requires all suppliers and their sub-suppliers to comply with the standards laid down by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). In addition to environmental procurement criteria, the Purchasing Policy also stipulates important safety and sustainability standards. Business relationships are only maintained with environmentally and socially responsible suppliers and in compliance with local, national, European and international laws and regulations. The following criteria are applied: Environmental friendliness over the entire product lifecycle, labeling and information obligations, the optimization of the sparing use of material and energy, the ban on child labor. Using a vendor rating system, A1 subjects its most important suppliers to an assessment based on a range of criteria (environment, commercial and technical rating). Random checks are also carried out at suppliers’ premises. The environmental aspects of the Purchasing Policy are adjusted to the local requirements in the individual countries.
