Mobility

Cutting-edge mobility concepts follow a multipronged approach. One key priority is to reduce mileage with the help of new logistics concepts and smart navigation systems. Other measures include the use of low-emission vehicles and the roll-out of a filling station network for low-emission engines. At the same time, the increased use of video conference systems and remote maintenance can help reduce or even eliminate travel and freight shipments. “Data traffic instead of road traffic” is a common motto for efforts to reduce traffic and transport volumes.

A1 set itself the specific target of eliminating approximately a quarter of the roughly 8,000 one-day business trips – and thus 150 tons of CO2 per year – by making increased use of telepresence and videoconferencing. In 2010, A1 became the first company in Austria to equip conference rooms at its corporate headquarters and at seven other locations with the high-end videoconferencing solution “Telepresence”. This technology gives users the feeling they are in a live meeting, despite their being in different locations, and can be connected to videoconferencing systems across the world. The virtual meeting facility has been well received and the rooms have a utilization rate of more than two thirds of total available time slots (between 60% and 80%).
