In 2010 Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and futurologist Ray Kurzweil considered the impact that the merger of man and machine would have on every one of us and on society. These two thinkers were two of the many renowned guests at future.talk.
Once a year the Telekom Austria Group invites outstanding personalities to future.talk. Since 2001 international "stars" from science, industry and politics like for instance Al Gore, Kofi Annan, Steve Wozniak or Faith Popcorn give guests of the Telekom Austria Group new food for thought. The future.talk has become an institution. Kofi Annan drew enthusiastic crowds to mobile.futuretalk 08: 960 people came to MuseumsQuartier. Kofi Annan underlined the relevance of the economy for global peace efforts and stability in crisis regions. "We are all in the same boat" said the UN-Secretary General and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kofi Annan and called upon Western societies to give globalisation a human touch. "The private sector and civil society have to cooperate with politics and NGOs in order to make sure that every country has fair chances in a globalised world." -

Al Gore is no doubt one of the most complex and impressive figures of our times: During his eight year term as Vice-President of the United States under Bill Clinton he kept pushing the development of the internet following his vision of the "Information Superhighways". His documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth" on his strategies against global warming won two Oscars. On October 24th Al Gore gave a presentation as key note speaker at the mobile.futuretalk 07 on the future of mobility. The event was organized by mobilkom austria and more than a thousand people listened to Mr. Gore's presentation. -

More than 1.000 guests and prominent companions from politics, business, sports and culture came to congratulate Austria's leading mobile phone provider. In his keynote speech special guest Bob Geldof talked about the importance of building bridges between people by using the means of global communication. The show was hosted by ORF-anchor Ingrid Thurnher and Ö3-"mike-man" Tom Walek. Saint Privat and iANARA were among the show acts. -

Among them were UN-representative and ambassador Wolfgang Petritsch, Bosnia-Herzegovina's ambassador Daria Krsticevic, the president of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl and motivation research expert Sophie Karmasin. His theses were confirmed by neuroscientist Ernst Pöppel from Munich. -

The US-author, Wallstreet analyst, investor in Russia and company owner Dyson focused on the rules of the game for the digital future in her presentation "It's a user-controlled world": more freedom on the one hand, protecting the rights of the individual on the other. A lively discussion with the audience evolved on topics such as "privacy on the internet" as well as on sociological and technical differences between the US and Europe concerning communication habits and behavior. -
