Digital Education & Knowledge

Knowledge today is fundamentally different from the knowledge of yesterday. It is dynamic and develops at a higher speed. Every one to one and a half years the data volume that is transported over telecommunications networks doubles. And each new application increases the need for more bandwidth. More information and knowledge go hand in hand with more data. Information is considered the primary product of a democratic society. Information is the basis for the human right to education and participation in cultural life.

How do we deal with this new knowledge? How do we deal with information? How do we regulate our access to new sources of knowledge? How do we categorize content into useful and useless?

We have arrived smack in the middle of the knowledge society. It has advantages: free access to information and to global communication networks also strengthens the freedom of expression. And it can help to promote democratic development. Therefore, the Telekom Austria Group initiates and promotes events and projects in this area: With, among others, the future.talk - an annual discussion series with internationally renowned personalities from politics, business and science, with the  Hedy Lamarr Lectures or the Austrian initiative A1 Internet for All which offers people a fair and equal access to the Internet and conveys media literacy.
