Telekom Austria Group Wins the Vienna Stock Exchange's Sustainability Prize

Vienna, May 29, 2008: Sustainability Prize Presented this Year for the First Time – Award Confirms Successful Commitment of the Telekom Austria Group – Communications Company has Diverse Activities

Yesterday evening the Vienna Stock Exchange presented its awards in the Liechtenstein Museum. The Telekom Austria Group, Austria's largest telecommunications company with a strong footprint in Eastern and Central Europe, was awarded the sustainability prize that was conferred for the first time. Hans Tschuden, CFO of Telekom Austria Group, accepted the prize and commented on its importance: "The key to success is orienting our sustainability commitment on our core business. I see the prize as confirmation of our activities, in Austria as well as in the countries in East and Southeast Europe where we have business activities." With its entire range of products and services, the Telekom Austria Group gives its customers the possibility to actively contribute to environmental protection. According to Hans Tschuden: "Modern technologies from the mobile phone to teleworking to video conferences replace having to travel, save costs and thus make a positive contribution to protecting the climate."

Internal Measures by the Telekom Austria Group …

Beyond anchoring its sustainability measures in its core business, the Telekom Austria Group relies on long-term orientation combined with open dialogue and believable communication. The management focuses on internal measures, which range from a company pension fund to health check-ups and nutrition coaching to environmental measures, such as certified environmental management and increasing energy efficiency in buildings and infrastructure.

… and External Cooperation

For external activities the focus is on cooperation that enables the population to learn how to use new technologies. Successful examples are the Web 2.0 Class and Seniorkom.at. Partnerships such as Saferinternet.at or Handywissen.at promote responsibility with the Internet or mobile phone. The organization "Croatian Mine Clearing Centre" which has been supported by the Croatian mobile communications company Vipnet since 2002, and the peace flotilla "mirno more" sponsored by mobilkom austria that organizes sailing races for socially disadvantaged youth, are two of the most successful CR activities.

The Börse Preis 2008 (Stock Exchange Prize 2008) was sponsored jointly for the first time by Aktienforum, C.I.R.A. (Cercle Investor Relations Austria), ÖVFA (Österreichische Vereinigung für Finanzanalyse und Asset Management), VÖIG (Vereinigung Österreichischer Investmentgesellschaften), the Vienna Stock Exchange and the government authority for the capital market. A jury from the ÖVFA selected the prize winners.
