Telekom Austria Group Bundles its Strengths
- Telekom Austria Group now steered by a management holding company – Telekom Austria AG
- In Austria, the Mobile Communication and Fixed Net segments merged into the new A1 Telekom Austria AG
- Main corporate goal: to become the most innovative and efficient telecommunications provider in the CEE area
Vienna, July 12, 2010: Telekom Austria Group (VSE: TKA, OTC US: TKAGY) today announced the completion of a comprehensive reorganization of its corporate structure as first disclosed in February 2010: At Group level, a strong management holding company - Telekom Austria AG - has been implemented at the Vienna Headquarters, which will steer all of the Group’s operations in 8 CEE countries with a total of 16,000 employees and roughly 21 million customers in a market of 41 million inhabitants.
Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO Telekom Austria Group, said: “The new corporate structure will enable a more intensive exchange of knowledge at the Group level and, therefore, strengthen our innovative power. Furthermore, we will be able to leverage cross-country synergy potential and enhance our efficiency, providing more added value for our customers.”
In Austria, the Mobile Communication and Fixed Net segments, which are leaders in their respective markets, have been merged into a new company - A1 Telekom Austria AG – to respond to the global trend towards convergence of fixed net and mobile communication services.
Hans Tschuden, CFO Telekom Austria Group, said: “In Austria, we are bundling our strengths in our newly founded company - A1 Telekom Austria - to better respond to customer demand for convergent product and services from one single source.”
The main objective of this new corporate structure is to develop Telekom Austria Group into the most innovative and efficient telecommunications provider in the CEE area. This comprehensive reorganization will also pave the way for reengineering the 21st century network infrastructure and safeguarding Austria’s future as a business location.
