Telekom Austria Group: Elisabeth Mattes is appointed to head up Group Communications
Vienna, May 19, 2010: Telekom Austria Group has today appointed Elisabeth Mattes to lead with the coordination of the Group’s Corporate Communications. Ursula Novotny will support her as Head of External Communications International and Alexander Kleedorfer will become Head of External Communications National and will be responsible for liaising with the domestic press.
With the shift from a Financial Holding to a Management Holding, the scope of responsibilities of Corporate Communications has been considerably expanded at the Holding level. In addition to financial market related media topics, the focus will be increasingly on strengthening the positioning of the Telekom Austria Group as the most innovative and efficient Telco both at a national and international level. The scope of action will encompass the strategic coordination of the Group’s internal and external communications in eight countries, along with a focus on Public Affairs and CSR.
“The development of a group-wide corporate culture that fosters innovation, diversity and sustainability poses interesting challenges for the future of our company,” said Elisabeth Mattes.
In 2007, Elisabeth Mattes became Head of Corporate Communications of the Financial Holding of the Telekom Austria Group in addition to her position as spokeswoman for mobilkom austria, where she held since 1998. Elisabeth began her professional career in PR after finishing her studies in German literature and drama. She gives speeches on communication and CSR issues regularly at international congresses and symposiums.
Ursula Novotny, with a degree in PR and corporate communication, is responsible for coordinating the external profile of the whole group at the international level and liaising with international media. She manages press queries in the Group’s foreign markets; Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Croatia, the Republic of Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Belarus. She started her professional career in 2000 as a press officer at mobilkom austria. Since she re-joined the company after her maternity leave, she has been responsible for product PR and internal communications for the mobilkom austria group.
