Telekom Austria's Subsidiary Mobilkom Austria Acquires a 49% Stake in paybox austria AG (Ad hoc Release)
Vienna, Austria, July 13, 2001 - Mobilkom Austria, the mobile subsidiary of Telekom Austria (VSE:TKA; NYSE:TKA) and paybox austria AG announced today that they have agreed to join forces in a strategic partnership with a capital share: Mobilkom Austria will acquire a 49% stake in paybox austria AG.
With this stake in paybox austria, Mobilkom Austria is investing in the leading European payment method, m-commerce, gaining an important competition advantage. Paybox austria’s method allows payment via mobile telephone for 6.5 million Austrians.It also gives rise to potential synergies in the Southern European area for Mobilkom Austria from the international orientation of the paybox austria’s German parent company paybox.net.
