Telekom Austria Group Launches aonTV MediaBox
Vienna, September 16, 2009: The Telekom Austria Group (VSE: TKA, OTC US: TKAGY) today announced that its Fixed Net subsidiary will offer aonTV MediaBox, a service which interconnects several media devices at home, starting from end of September. Telekom Austria’s aonTV MediaBox will open up a new breed of possibilities for digital entertainment und the usage of music, image and video files.
aonTV MediaBox is able to interconnect the TV set with the PC and the mobile phone allowing customers to retrieve and access video, image or music files directly on the TV set, also when the PC is switched off. As a result, time-consuming copying of video and audio files back and forth ultimately belongs to the past and no additional cabling is needed. The aonTV MediaBox also enables access to an online hard disk for data of up to 1GB, which is made available to all Telekom Austria’s broadband customers free-of-charge. An upgrade to 50 GB is available for EUR 4.90 monthly. This online hard disk can be also accessed on the go via Internet or mobile phone. A further advantage of this online hard disk, which is placed on a secured server of Telekom Austria, is represented by its back-up capabilities: Thus, no data can be lost as files can be restored onto the computer at any time.
With the interconnection of the TV set with the PC, the mobile phone and the Internet, Telekom Austria is not only setting the course in digital entertainment but is also anticipating customers’ future needs.
For all Telekom Austria’s aonTV customers, the aonTV MediaBox will now be available via an automatic software update without additional costs and without the need to replace current aonTV set top boxes. For new customers aonTV MediaBox will be available for EUR 1.90 a month in addition to the aonTV basic package. For all Telekom Austria’s customers, who will now sign up for aonTV, the monthly rental of EUR 4.90 as well as service installation costs totaling EUR 131 will be free of charge in the first 4 months.
