Si.mobil is the second largest operator in Slovenia.
In February 2001, the Telekom Austria Group acquired majority ownership of the company, which started operations in March 1999 as the country´s first private mobile service provider. Since May 2006, the Telekom Austria Group holds a 100 percent interest in Si.mobil.
With four operators and a mobile penetration rate of 102.7%, the Slovenian market, which has a population of approximately 2 million, is highly competitive. Nevertheless, in 2010 Si.mobil was able to increase customer numbers by 5.0% to approximately 619,000 and expand its market share from 28.2% to 29.2%. Mobile broadband availability in Slovenia is significantly below the EU average. With the gradual introduction of HSPA+, Si.mobil intends to strengthen its position in this segment. At year-end 2010, there were approximately 14,600 mobile broadband customers in Slovenia.
