Vip operator
In February 2007 the Telekom Austria Group won the tender for a GSM license in the Republic of Macedonia. Vip operator started in the Republic of Macedonia in September 2007 as the third mobile communications provider. With a start-up time of only six months, Vip operator has set a record. The penetration rate in the Republic of Macedonia was 87.4% at the end of December 2007.
At year-end 2007 Vip operator had 141,200 customers and held a market share of 7.9%.
Vip operator in Macedonia generated revenues of EUR 2.4 million. start-up cost during this period amounted to EUR 14.7 million. Investments for the network and for the market were in total EUR 39.1 million.
